Fat Biking in NJ

Whats the scoop with a Sandy Hook beach ride? Any of you folks been over there? It would be awesome to start at Hartshorne and make way over to Sandy hook. Is there a bike lane over the Rt 36 bridge?
I am getting ready for a bikepacking trip to Cape Cod this coming weekend. It would be cool do do something similar over there with you guys.

You can ride over to Sandy Hook pretty easily from Hartshorne. I'm almost embarassed to admit that I haven't ridden on the beach with either fatbike. I did it once on a regular mountain bike and the salt was murder on my bike. How do you guys deal with that?

This was our plan today. We Hartshorne and Huber but one of the guys got a flat before we could get to Sandy Hook. So close...

I try to stay out of the wet stuff and avoid water above the rim..If I encounter wet and there is no choice..crawl through.

Jim, I still want to get together for a fatbike ride!

Cheers,
Pat

Indeed. I'll get Chris to come out too. That would make 3 of us. I'd like to give a re-shot of the Hartshorne/Huber/Hook ride...

Hartshorne is a cluster-F on weekends though.

Hartshorne will calm down a bit now that it's getting colder. I was there on Saturday afternoon and it was pretty quiet. That said, I'm often available to ride mid-week, too.

I’m ready to be fat.

I’m looking at Mukluk 2 for my next bike purchase. When purchasing a bike I usually buy a frame and built the bike myself. I’m new to Fat Biking so maybe I should go and buy a complete bike? Anyway when pricing components for a Fat Bike built I think buying a complete bike is the way to go.:hmmm:

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.
