Did pretty good today considering a big bug flew in my ear and caused me to steer directly into a small tree whilst my arms flailed about as I freaked trying to get the bug out...ewww.

Had fun today as well. Only did 27 to the concrete bridge and back, but conditions were awesome. I'm hoping the rain was minimal today.

Nice and tacky with a small side of slime

Went out there early this morning. Hit 27 to middlebush and back and conditions were fine. Little slime in some of the turns but besides that great! Had a run in with some wet 2X4's and took a spill broke the presta valve on my rear tire which is a new one! Go out and ride and have fun!

Was out there early this AM. Did Rt 27 to Jacques Lane and back. The 27 side was generally firm and tacky, but some of the turns in the twisties were like snot over hardpack. Red/White to Jacques was excellent.

I had the same on the way toward ranger station after I saw you in the lot...but on the way back it was back to tacky/fast...nice...get out there people!

slow going and slippery

ok, not that slow, but every turn i was losing traction and either sliding my front tire sideways or losing my rear tire over the greased roots. perhaps i was just going too fast. ha. so, this morn was my first time out there. wheels down at 8am, looped around the red trail off rt27 for a while and couldn't figure out how to get to the rest of the place. then decided to try it again and finally found the way, made it across Middlebrush Rd and then came to the water crossing on the blue. Since it was roaring rapids (ok, not really but pretty deep) i turned around.

So two questions:
1. Are bike allowed on the red trail over there? That trail sign at the split is confusing.
2. Am I a wuss for not attempting that water crossing? I've crossed other streams but usually they aren't a foot or more deep. I just chalked it up to the torrential rain they got in the area last night.

You missed alot of good trails. We just ride through it, sometimes with feet up. After a good rain, the river can get a little crazy which I guess is the case during your outing. The river crossing really sucks in the winter!

Another way to get to the rest of the trails is by taking the red trail to the canal road lot, jump on the road, cross the bridge and bang a right back into the woods..

Have fun and no you are not a wuss

8am must have been slick...like I said I got there at 9 and on the way in it was still a bit greasy here & there & the roots were d d d dangerous. An hour later it was great. The stream crossing wasnt bad at all today...refreshing!

yo do people typically hit all the log pile obstacles and wooden things throughout the trail? Are all the cool kids doin' it? I usually only go over a few because I like to keep momentum. Would I be lame if I skirted around most of them?

Don't even be concerned with what other people do....ride however you want....

It's not uncommon that I fall on my face while hitting some of these. Thank you helmet!

Do what ever you want and ride within your means. F what the alleged "cool kids" are doin'.

Doesn't matter what anyone else does; ride however feels right to you.

Personally, I ride the obstacles that keep the flow going and skip the ones that I have to go out of my way to ride. Also, I skip the ones that look too scary to me (high log bridge near Middlebush, for example).

I agree ride however you want! I would suggest however you try every once in awhile to ride with someone above your skill level who is willing to take the time to help you (if you need it that is) to overcome the obstacles. You will only get better and enjoy the obstacles more. Take that for what its worth coming from an idiot that will try most things and crash while doing it.

oh what do i know. haha. i think i'd need to go with someone and watch to see how they tackle the stream crossing. i've hit the ones at chimney rock with no issues, much to my own surprise, but those aren't nearly as wide and deep.

after looking at the map when i got back. yep, missed quite a bit.
