When I was waiting for Spencer at stephens Sunday there must of been some ebike meet up. Had to be at least 10 dudes all on ebikes. I expect this to become the norm. We did 14 miles and did not come across another rider until we came back to a full lot. But they are here to stay unless the state cracks down on them.

The entry level is $6,500? Just when you think you have become numb to bike costs....
Numb? I still refuse to pay over $6k, and for that money I expect top of the line (unrealistic, I know). For my new bike, I negotiated like it was a corporate merger, and came in nicely below that number (to please my "boss") with middle of the road parts. Bike prices are stupid, given where they're made and local labor and material costs. As for e-bikes, I don't lump them in the same category as regular bikes anyway, so I've never really cared what they cost since they're not even on my radar screen. By the time I'm old or decrepit (I'm already broken) enough to consider one, prices will likely come down. Yea, when that time comes I'll go to my LBS in flying car, or have them beam one over to my place.

rider at 3:30 mark does flat tricks and rides jumps with e bike. Wow

People have been doing crazy stunts on motos for the last 40yrs, there’s been trials riding with motos, there are some cool videos on YouTube of guys doing crazy shit on Vespas. Now we have a video of someone doing tricks on an ebike, that have already been done in every other motorized and non-motorized format. Does not make them any less lame for the able bodied.

This lame, (somewhat) abled bodied guy is 100% getting an eBike when they weigh less than 35 lbs and cost around $5K with 160mm of travel and XT or better components. I'm guessing in about 4 years.

But I don't have time, so an ebike lets me ride more in less time. Or, its a great training tool. Or its saves me from shuttling. Lots of good (marketing) reasons for the able-bodied to justify this. Kind of defeats the purpose why many of us started riding though, especially in the woods. There used to be parts of the trail that were legendary, if you could clean them you were the man (or woman). Kind of what kept us coming back, training harder. If you can clean an impossible climb on an ebike, so fuckin what? I don't like Greg LeMond, but I like this quote of his:

"I have always struggled to achieve excellence. One thing that cycling has taught me is that if you can achieve something without a struggle it's not going to be satisfying."
