Much to be said in the prep of your housings too. I've since moved to a dremel to cut my housings.
Take a spoke to a grinder and turn the point into a very sharp rounded tip. This works excellent for re-opening the inner liner that gets kinked from cutting the casing. Carefully look into the end and use the tool to work that opening back into a perfect circle. Of course this must be done at every single point where the casing was cut.
= it always comes out best if you cut the housing with the cable still inside. So you're cutting thru the housing and the cable at the same time.** This prevents the liner from getting pinched, and the housing from getting deformed. 🙂
** But be careful not to cut off too much of the cable in the process!
One tip that you may or may not be aware of...
Whether cutting with Park cutters or a Dremel, it always comes out best if you cut the housing with the cable still inside. So you're cutting thru the housing and the cable at the same time.** This prevents the liner from getting pinched, and the housing from getting deformed. 🙂
