Clinton Rd, Haunted?

sounds like a great road to ride at night. i never heard of clinton road before.

i know long road in bernardsville has its share of ghost stories. it's great time of year for late night road rides.

It is a great ride. I've logged quite a few miles going up 'n down Clinton Rd...the only story I have has to do with a bear, no ghosts...

I think its closed right now... Wasn't there another thread for that?

I just tried to check out one of those weirdnj-type sites on Clinton road,
and it crashed my browser- spooky.

I'm pretty sure it was one of the original Wierd NJ spots. I made a trip up there back in high school with a bunch of friends at like 1 am. We drove it in both directions, ended up being very uneventful and dissapointing.

Its a great road and area, but all the crazy stories are mostly BS. I've been fishing, hiking and riding off Clinton Road for more than 10yrs and nothing weird has ever happened, ever. There is a bit of a gravity hill a mile or so past the little bridge with all the graffiti, but thats just an optical illusion. There is also the remnants of an old industrial era castle and girl scout camp right near Hanks Pond, a few miles up clinton road. The coup de grace of the entire area is definetly Terrace Pond, which for those who frequent, should be treated like Fight club and that is all I will say about that. This is easily the area of NY that is most densely populated with wildlife, esp bears. The biggest bears in the state live right in that area, and some are not scared of people or dogs(personal experience talking). Munsee indians frequented the area long ago, and after that I believe there was a town called "utter town" that was flooded to make clinton resevior. There is also an awesome fire tower up you can climb on one of the ridges off clinton road. Fishing is EXCELLENT in clinton Res but its pay-to-fish only. The trails are pretty good throughout the watershed, its too bad they don't open more up to mountain bikers. The pipeline by the terrace pond lot has a pretty sweet looking downhill, I've thought about hitting up one or twice.

Lol, and now you likely know more than you wanted to know about Clinton Road. FYI, if you go and want to park off the road you must have a pass from the Watershed office on echo lake road, of Rt23.

Oh forgot one thing.....ever hear of the mob hitman they called "The Iceman" ....yeah, he may have hid some bodies off Clinton road. If I remember correctly one or two were found here, "back in tha day". So maybe some weird stuff does happen from time to time....

Also there is a black hummer h3 that sometime comes right out of the woods from seemingly no where....but I wouldnt know anything about that.

I grew up with this all in my back yard. It's all BS. The scary stuff that happens there are from the idiots that try and scare each other.

Hell, when my housing development (just a little way from Mahlon) was being built they found some dead bodies rolled up in carpet in one of the houses that were purportedly mob victims. Some folks think my house was that house, but I have it under good authority (somebody who has lived in this development since day one), it wasn't my house but one up on the lake.

Did somebody hear a noise? Hmmm...

We used to party at the castle in the 80's. Always 4 wheeling in Watershed on the weekends. Thats back when we had fishing poles in the back windows of the truck and a shot gun or rifle behind the seat for skeet shooting on the power lines or grabbing a deer. Clinton wasn't paved until the mid 80's or so.

They did find bodies in garbage bags up there back in the 70's when I was going to UGL school. Everybody thought it was mob related.

Clinton is on one of my after work loops and I do find myself looking around a bit, don't know if it is a throw back to high school or if I'm actually looking for something.

Well it is good to stay on your toes between the curves and lack of shoulder. I also find there are some stretches where you can't hear cars approaching from either direction until they are right on you. So maybe it is simple self-preservation 🙂
