Backyard Pump

I can't believe that you actually got a pump track to flow in that space. Very impressive. The tight berm and left to right chicane spot look fun as hell.

don, when i get serious about building one of these i hope i can enlist you for consultation on my project. i NEED one of these things.

O yeah, would love to help. It's taken me a long time to get the current setup so I hopefully have learned a thing or 2 along the way and could apply it to other setups.

I have to say it is a really great way to go out and just burn some energy/fustration/whatever. I can ride it in whatever shoes I have including flipflops or hiking boots so I'll walk by the garage and throw in a few laps like on my way to the store or taking out the garbage.

Great work, when is the little one going for it?

All the kids have been on it at one point or another. The 10 year old can get thru it but needs a pedal here and there. My daughter needs help on the bigger rollers but will go over some stuff. And the 3 year old I set up on one straight and give him a good push - he'll get over a few rollers and into the berm with training wheels - it's actually pretty funny watching him.

Thanks for all the props - it still needs a lot more love - I would say it's about 80% done. After a good rain and some more shaping I'll have some more options on it and hope it will look a lot cleaner. Will try to get a side view of it being ridden soon.

Looks like fun. I just need to add 3-4 days to each week to do all the things I want to do.

nice work! looking good. i'm jealous.

i'm plotting a new dig spot myself - i think i found a spot that's even closer than my last one, only problem is there's no solid water source. my old spot is toasted beyond toast - its either a parking lot or the start of a foundation for a new science wing for a school at this point. i wish i could do it in the backyard... but such is life when living in a condo.

Bob_WVP - looks good! Is that bamboo on the edge of part of it? That stuff is nasty.

Clark - You probabyl don't need a solid water source as long as the dirt isn't total sand. We get enough rain in NJ to make the dirt workable for a while. It does help if the place is in the woods - I find that anything in the shade doesn't dry out nearing as fast as the stuff in the sun.

I've been making some small changes and dialing things in. With last weeks rain I patched some areas really well. Will get some new pics up soon.

That clip in AUS is insane. The neighbors must have been pleased, but I guess that is life in Austrialia??

The greenhouse clip is really neat too.

looking forward to the pics.

i'm gonna go for it then. i used to have a canal right by - was great when it got real dry, especially with the clay based soil up here. its definitely been wet enough. i'm gonna go for it and mark it up. pics will be coming.

nice part about this new area is i think there is no room for developers to move in this time. at least i hope.

I think places near canals/rivers/streams are good. Like you said developers can't get in there and the dirt quality is usually very good.

If it's clay based that will be awesome to work with. Holler if you want any ideas or anything.

My spot is between a river and a canal. WIN WIN

until it floods....

my spot in york was between a railroad and a large creek. Part of it was a tire dump way back when. Basically it was in an area that was useless for anything but woods (and jumps ofcourse).

True. Happens about once every couple of years. Not much gets messed up, but a lot of crap gets left behind.😡

Typical day working with clay:

FFT---> :argue: <---Miller F*** this shit, we need a pick ax...No we dont, just dig.........F*** no, I'm gonna 😛uke: Just 5 more wheel barrows :wedgie:....Lets go dig up the road.... :hmmm:No way, that big bald A-hole dont need any more :hitsfan: OK fine, lets go help don....yea, that stuffs like butta!! 😀

haha, you guys have some crazy mixture - I think there is Portland in there as well. The exposure to sun doesn't help much either - I noticed with my backyard, that the sun just bakes stuff to rock hard so quickly.

We have clay but when it's wet it's like working with play-doe and all whille it's not fun keeping stuff clean with the trees - they certainly help keep things moist.
