Backpack/Hydration Reccomendations

I'm in the market for one and wanted some input. I'm looking for a smaller bag/hydration combo from Camelbak(can get a discount). What do you all ride with? There seems to be an endless amount of options offered by CB. 😕

I roll with the M.U.L.E and love it carries everything I need plus a few extras in case I run into someone in need on the trail and I find that the water capacity lasts me up to 3 hours riding.

+2 for the M.U.L.E. Have the Lobo (which is smaller), and do not like it.

That being said, Kirt is selling an Ergon pack (BD-1) in Bits & Pieces. It is on the bigger side, but the guys I know that own them (Tim & Walter) seem to really like them, a lot. I am looking to pick one up this season.

Does that mean you aren't picking his up? I was thinking of nabbing it as a daypack.

Definitely. I have a BD2 (just a slightly larger bd1) and a MULE...the Ergon is superior in comfort...no contest.

But then again, an Ergon will cost you 2-3 times as much.

+43290 on the mule, fits everything i would need to fit my bike. no complaints.

I bought a LOBO last summer when I started riding and liked it.
Then it got cold and dark and i needed a place for a battery and possibly a layer of clothes. I bought a MULE for that and loved it. It is a geat pack...
But now that its getting warmer out, I am back to using the LOBO....

But if I had to pick one for all year, its the MULE. Its got a ton more room and its not that much bigger

I love my MULE. Fits everything I need and does not restrict body movement.

although I am a little pissed that almost every zipper-pull broke off in the first week I owned it😡

My older Camelbaks have better zipper-pulls. It appears that they chinced out in this area.

I think you got a bad one man! Mine have had no issues and survived a few scrapes on rocks as well.

I've been this purchase off for a while. But with Summer approaching I do need to get a hydration pack. If I am going to wear it on my back, I need storage for other gear as well - extra layer(s), tools, and food/spares for other family members. I just don't think the MULE will do it, so I'm planning to get the HAWG NV. I'll just cinch it down when it's not really full...

Will the mule fit say a fleece/long sleeve t-shirt?

A long sleeve shirt, Yes...

Im not sure about a fleece. I always thought a fleece would be way too warm to wear riding.... ( even in the temps that make the hydration hose freeze up on me)...
