Allergies and pollen

Anyone using to cover their noses and mouths while riding from this pollen, besides being a weiner and sitting home.

Take drugs, seriously
Mouth covering probably helps a little, I have minor allergies, mostly in the evening. But my younger has it bad and her 12 hr Allegra expires in less than 6 and she's like a zombie when she gets home. Also tried Zyrtec, Claritin and Alavert with lesser success. Benadryl and Netty pot at night, but seems we may need to explore Rx options

Get a HEPA rated air purifier at home, which will do wonders. You'll likely be able to tolerate exposure for a few hours outside with some type of immuno-suppressant (Benadryl, Claritin, etc...).

My 0.02 as someone with bad spring allergies and a lifetime asthmatic...

I'm wondering if pollen is my problem right now. Tried an after work ride on Thursday and simply could. not. breath. But otherwise I feel relatively fine and have few of the allergy symptoms I'd normally have (sneezing, watery eyes, running nose).

I have severe allergies and since I started to us Xyzal and Flonase I am a real lot better only deal with itchy eyes now. Everyone is different so it will take time to figure out what works. Took me 38 years of suffering to get to this point but options and meds are much better now

The strange thing about my allergies is there is no consistency from year to year. Some years I'll suffer for weeks. Some years I get no symptoms at all.

This year's pollen tsunami is kicking me hard. On generic zyrtec at moment, but after riding 5 miles mouth is so dry can barely breath. Wore a cheap paint mask today cutting lawn and it helped. Hopefully it will disperse quickly since everything bloomed/popped at once.

Same here and what even more weird for me is that one year claritin works, then the next year, it does nothing and I have to go with allegra.

This +1000.
I hardly slept last night because I couldn't breathe. I was taking singulair and Flonase and doing the neti but I'm pretty sure it wasn't doing shit. I took a Claritin that expired in 2015 and it made a dent in the symptoms, buy that's about it.
I used to take zyzal (sp?). I just bought some OTC ($$$). Hopefully it works because this is ridiculous.

I’m experimenting with bee pollen pills from Vitamin Shoppe this year. No need for my Claritin D yet this year... knock on wood.

In all seriousness, Zyrtec works good. I do go through “attacks”. Swollen itching eyes, face feels like I was stung by a bee and so much sinus pressure, then I sneeze 11 times and feel better after blowing my nose.

I’m hoping this bloom goes quickly and we can get on with the rest of spring

I get wicked allergies every Spring. Today started it the worst. The next month will be hell as always. Its the longest time I don't ride for all year. Sucks. I'll be on Benadryl everyday.

If you can find a local source for "fresh" pollen it should work even better. The pills usually have a bunch of fillers to make it a pill.
I just grind it up and put a spoonful of so in a glass of chocolate milk. It makes the pollen not taste so bad.
Also don't mix the pollen with a hot drink as it will kill the benifical stuff it has.
