Allaire Conditions

due to the thaw today and tomorrow Alaire will be pretty much unrideable with out doing a lot of trail damage on my way up hospital road I checked the camp side and the trails were a mud fest for the amount that I rode 🙁 please try and stay off the trails until they either get a proper freeze again or dry a bit.

Agreed. The trails were all ice yesterday morning, which means today they will be a slop fest!

And we now return control of your television set..... Back to Allaire conditions, sorry for the Hijack!🙂

Yea BobK, not so bad for a couple old guys. Challenging yea but no more than a muddy cross course or summer sand of Allaire. Best riding was blazing new tracks. With deep snow could really ride wherever. Temp was 31, not too cold at all. Good day to be on a bike and good riding with an old friend. See you next time.

Sorry I did not call you for today Mark, I was there at 8:45am and rode till 10:30 or so, was nicer than I thought, moved right along, no walking, a couple of spots were dicey, but overall I was very happy with the ride, perhaps next week we can meet, depending on weather....was very nice to see you as well...

By 11:00 it started to turn to slop...BAD....ain't no one ride DAT on gud conscience.

going to check it out now. will repost later. early am should be frozen and fine. as the day progresses and temps rise it might soften up depending on how much moisture the ground is holding.

I was thinking about Allaire in the morning around 9 ish at this minute,
Please let Mark and I know if its even a thought...

challenging but ridable. followed a set of fat tracks for most of the ride. some bare spots, crusty snow, ice, crunchiness, and some frozen bumpy goodness.

this was my ride: http://www.strava.com/activities/111819424/segments/2452597597

steelman, serpentine, and glass were in the best shape.
mick's was ok.
parks of blue and orange are difficult due to the foot traffic.

i didn't ride down imba, switchbacks, to the bogs, or across to the parkway side.

the park needs more riders laying down tracks.

thanks for the update, not sure where I'm going yet....maybe cross bike in highlands?? 22 degrees a at this minute and more snow tonight...this is starting to get old..

Swing and a miss..

Figured I'd give it a try. Did 20 minutes and bailed. Frozen permafrost, chunky, ice. 24 degrees in the lot but not a factor, sweating in 10 minutes. Just wasn't much fun. Dying to ride as all are I'm sure but will have to tough it out on the road for now.

I got two hours in. Challenging and slow/walking at times but way better than not ridding. Enough of the trails had very long stretches of dirt or were packed down enough that made it all worth while.

went out today also... the big bike was good out there... just like you guys described the conditions were what you said. Just the like rest of you im dyin' for dirt but it beats the couch for sure.
I might just ride the mtb on the road tomorrow around Point or whatever.. need more ride time. I'm going Southwest in a month for an MTB trip and can't wait to pedal my ass off!!!

took to the road...

I ended up with a 30 mile road ride yesterday morning, was not to bad. I figured Allaire would be frustrating without a FAT tire bike. not sure about today yet...

I'm probably going to ride allaire today... tool around on the Knolly again.. I drove past there this morning and more than a few cars out there in the lot...
whhhhoooohooO!

was back at allaire this morning after a day whiteclay. the trails have gotten some riders and are tamping down. still some snow/ice which make some trails feel like riding on cobblestones. it's not going to be a fast ride, but if you're looking for a challenge, to work on balance, power modulation, and a pretty good workout then you might enjoy.

i broke trail on tiger, the bogs, mein kampf, air traffic, and a good portion of the parkway side today.

go out and get some 😀
