Allaire Conditions

there has got to be a way to get better, more accurate reports from the different parks.

That will be next to impossible. Opinions differ greatly with regard to what passes as good conditions. You see photos of bikes all the time with mud caked front to rear and the rider stating what a great time they had. In the same breath they will praise an individual for the great work they did after they shit all over his work. Others will try to give you an idea based on past experiences and local conditions.

That's why I said, try to use good judgement. I've seen and heard the reports from other user communities with our apparent disrespect of the trails. I have fought along side others to save the park from closure, I just don't want to see us go down that road again. So yeah, I am a "trail hugger" and proud of it!

Please elaborate on the Jorba situation.

**nevermind, I read the Jorba thread.

Whoa.., I didn't walk that far in and coming frm a trusted source, I'll be taking a deeper look tomorrow. Great pic, warm temps, dying to ride. Taking a much closer look his week.

The ones I have been riding on since 1989. All the top layer of dirt and soil are long gone, just leaving sand...drains fast..no MUD..

And all of Wallies races from the 1990's too

Ha! Same year I started riding. Some of those trails are gone, like the ones with the 5' deep sidewalls.

I made it down there today around 3:30 just before the rain. Conditions were near perfect except for a huge mud puddle near the parking lot.

Hopefully it will dry out again before the weekend.

Damp on the wetter trails post the rain yesterday. Everything is frozen right now, but there should be a thaw tomorrow. Tuesday was OK, but there were some wetter areas that could use some drying. All in all, as long as the rain stays away, the weekend should not be that bad.

I would suggest staying off of the section from the lot to the paved road, as it has been a swamp and needs to dry out. You can use the road/grass to get over to the paved road (only a 50 yard detour).

I always try to be careful with Allaire, as there is only a light layer of soil/clay on top of the sand mass. Once you rut it out and wash it away, it just turns into another Sandy Trail. We are running out of real estate to build on at this park, so I try to be a solid Trailhugger🙂.

Agree, I couldn't understand why people weren't doing this when I was there on Tuesday.

Today was firm and fast almost everywhere. Should be great tomorrow.

When I was leaving Tuesday, a young woman was walking a brandy new, white and red Spec through the mud. She stopped when she got to where I was and asked me how the trails were and I told her that the only mud was between her and the parking lot (about 200 meters). I also told her then that the trails were in great shape.

She then said that she wanted to make sure, so she didn't get yelled at.

Have a great weekend.😀

I rode the fat bike tonight from 6:20 to 7:10. The trails were moist in clay areas, but not real bad. If we get any rain tonight it could get sloppy. Some of the area was frozen still, but we are going to have above freezing temps all night.

The blind trail (straight out of the parking lot over the road) needs to dry out, so I would stay off it.

The old skool sand was fine, and surprisingly the river trail from the plane field to the lot was not bad, with the exception of the bridge near the water crossing.

It was moist though, a few weekends of a lot of people and moist conditions could make for a not so pretty sight. I think I am opting for Wharton in the AM, fatbike of course.

Any reports from this am? I rode last week before the freeze and have to say it was too moist. I did a 20 minute loop and bailed. Guessing it's thawed by now but back to moist? Too windy for road. Maybe a few loops around Shark River Park instead. Post up.
