29er or 26er?

If you want to waste your youth away and mature overnite into a trendy old spandex snob, and eat gu, and measure proteins, complain, and drive in the slow lane, and record every thought and image that passes your mind onto a website, and only shop at 'one' shop, then go for the 29er.
Im 16 and ride a 29er. All of the above is true.. Think about your future!!!! BTW 26in wheels are for crackheads

I love my 29er, it was the best choice for me.
But the bike you ride is what you will have to choice. It is what feels right to you. There is no one size fits all. But I tell all my buddy's who are looking to get a MTB go 29er.

what you are trying to say is niner= grey hair

aarp=29"

No. I know lots of 29ers. But, at 14 (in my opinion) should start with a 26er first, then move up 29er. For some (who like 26) it might take awhile. ....and I was dying to make that rabbit joke.

i would go with a 26" for many reasons but the one i think is most prominent is the proclivity of a younger person to jump stuff and a 29" is less durable and harder to jump.

the aarp stuff was tongue in cheek even if a 29" is like driving a 22' caddy

skip 26"....since you asking now you will get 29'' eventually. Seriously, try both and then decide.

Hey everyone,
Here is a topic that everyone has probably seen thousands of times across the internet: what type of bike to buy (26 inch wheels or 29 inch wheels.) I've seen a lot of hype about both sides, how 26er's are more agile, lighter, easier to accelerate, and how 29er's are more durable, go over terrain better, smoother, and easier to keep moving. Now, I'm in the process of looking for a new bike and I have come down to 2 bikes: one a 26 inch and the other a 29 inch, each with great reviews. But I'm not so sure what to get. One thing I'm not so sure about it if my weight and height matter in choosing one or the other. I am only 14 years old, weigh 116 lbs and am 5' 7". Maybe it would be a better idea to get a 26er for my size? Also, my riding usually is on medium difficulty trails, such as in Allaire but I am moving up to doing more difficult riding, so you have an idea of what would suit me best... What do you all think I should get?
Thanks

Just ride them both and pick which one is more fun! Yu decide!

You know, every time someone posts the 26 vs 29 thing it becomes a long heated debate. All you want to do is RIDE. So.. Ride... Sally... Ride....
if not, Can't we all just get along.

He has a 26er now so he just has to ride a 29er and make a decision.

Do many people buy a 29er then go back to a 26?

If you think you ever plan on being a normal kid and try to get the wheels off the ground, ride dh, ride stunts, and eat candy bars, have a date for prom, and skid down the trail, and believe in santa, and be cool, make good videos, then get a 26er.

Hope that helps. 😀

Hahaha. I'll go one further (and I'm sure I'll be crucified) but at 14 I'd say get a cheap BMX bike (24" cruiser if you think a 20" would be too small). Learn how to jump, bunnyhop, manual and ride a quicker handling/squirrelly bike. At the very least a 26" DJ rig. I rode dirt bike trails on my BMX bike BITD. You won't be clocking fast lap times but it will be fun hitting little rocks for air and throwing berm slides.

They will also be a more simple and easier to learn how to work on. I think pooriggy's advice on something inexpensive is great - you are 14 and growing - no need to get a high dollar ride. Not sure if you mentioned, but what are you riding now?
