23c v. 25c

I went to 25's a few months ago. I run 100 psi vs 120 in the 23's. I feel more comfortable on the bike (less vibration, a little softer), handling is nice, and no flats.

having said that, I wouldn't replace a perfectly fine 23. Run what you've got until they are done.

Most people come in the shop looking for 23c tires. I usually encourage them to run a 25c on the rear for comfort. Eventually they get it and buy them for both. 23/25 is a good place to start though. Many people also think that a higher PSI is better. They love the Vredestein tires since they say 175psi on them. I can only imagine what 175 psi on an old C-dale 3.0 frame feels like.. but they do it.

Do rim manufacturers even advocate you running that high of pressure... That seems like solid tricycle tires... No thanks

We run Michelin Pro Race 3's on the tandem with 110 psi. Team weight is 325.pretty evenly distributed. I used to run Pro 2's on it with 700x23's and find I like the Pro 3 700x25's much better. They seem to perform better all around. The biggest difference is in ride quality and descending. They seem to hook up much better on a fast descent. I have had the front wheel slide with the 23's on a fast descent. That did not make my stoker very happy.FWIW they also wear a bit better than the 23's.
