There are many posts about etiquette but I want to give a special shout out to the guy in the blue kits and white helmet this morning at Six Mile. I crossed paths with him twice and both times stopped to let him go. Neither time did he even look up to acknowledge my presence and god forbid he would say thank you.

Most people are nice out on the trails but this guy must be real a-hole.😡

I go so fast that if I don't get the timing right, my "Hello" sounds more like a grunt.

The quicker you get over silly stuff like that, the sooner you can get back to enjoying your ride. Don't let some unfriendly stranger ruin your ride.

at least he had a helmet, dude in front of me at 5mr today had none, and mistook my noise as his buddy catching up, so he sped up and went a good mile with me tailing him at a good clip into the canal lot before realizing I wasn't his bud....who he left waaay behind...found this comical, and the lack of a helmet troublesome.

As I was packing up my car today in th rt 27 lot I was greeted by Jeremy and Kirt. We exchanged hand shakes and chatted for about 10 minutes. Upon them riding away, we did not shake hands again, this upset me.

On my drive home I allowed someone to turn in front of me at an intersection. They did not wave or give me any kind of acknowledgement. This makes 2 times today my feelings were hurt.

I got home, dropped off my kids at the in laws, came home and banged my wife and then took her to an awesome concert.

Life goes on.

Edit: only kidding about the shaking hands thing.

It is every man for himself out there.

My favorite is when I am out doing trail work and someone is upset that I am blocking the trail.. (that I built)

while I understand how you feel, you have no idea what kind of day this person was having or what their situation is. Maybe their wife just told him she wants a divorce. Maybe the doctor just told him he has cancer. Who knows. Do good for goods sake and not for the reward. I thank you for being courteous, may God bless you for your kindness. Please note I am NOT being sarcastic at all here, any one who knows me personally knows I am being sincere.

I had similar experiences and made the same complaint here when I first started riding 6MR. Was basically told to man up and not get worked up about it so now I just glare at everyone I encounter... just kidding about the last part. 😀

On a related note when I took a small hike there friday some guy was riding with one of those cow/bear bells that constantly sound. Really a good idea for that place - I could here him coming from quite a distance. Gotta get one

I'm thinking that was me. Not everyone hears me coming, but it helps. I got my bear bell for all of $3-$4 at Eastern Mountain Sports in Bridgewater. This time of the year they're great because with the encroachment of vegetation on the trails, there are many blind turns. It's definitely an asset for sections of Six Mile and Hartshorne, and even Chimney Rock (White Trail).

Were you just starting out from 27 lot ~ 1:30pm? yeah those bells are a great idea - I get paranoid going around those blind corners - I have a dingy bell but a constant one would be better

Screw the bell. Just get one of those beeping things they put on trucks when they back up. No one would miss that.

Hmm...must have been someone else, Rick. I rode out of the Rt 27 lot early, about 7:30 - 10AM. This is sounding like a trend!🙂
