Anyone know how long each of the colored trails is? I ran (29er in the shop) the orange trail on Monday and didn't have my GPS with me.

Thanks!🙂

This is going to be your best bet:

Sorry, I just noticed this. According to an older park map, I have these numbers for ya.
Orange 4.6 miles
Blue 3.1 miles
White 2.3 miles

these numbers courtesy of Allaire's naturalist who walked the loops.

Oh snap. I'm noticing just now that that is an earlier version of the map, before I completed it. More than half the orange trail is not shown.

I'll need to re-upload the correct version to the wiki...

when will all the new hidden trials just left of the switchback trail be posted? Just found them last month and made then part of my regular ride.

They are illegal and were built without the parks permission. The hunters love us even more now.

not hidden trails

These trails are for hunters only. You should not be riding on them. They were blocked at one time but the hunters have opened them. Please try to stay on the marked trails to avoid any conflict with hunters who then can report us as being rouge riders. Thanks in advance and you dig?🙂

Mitch brings up a fair point. There has been some serious rogue building going on at Allaire that has not escaped the notice of park folk or other users. If it keeps up we could have serious access issues. Let's not lose a fun place to ride over this.

Some of the trails you speak of are non-sanctioned and where intentionally left off the map.

**edit** some how I didn't see the latest replies and that the question had already been answered. oops.

So the hunters have their own trailes just for themselves? Is there a sign up?

There was a trail closed earlier this year and closed signs were put up, but someone has reopened it. I don't believe this is the trail that was originally mentioned by thedon, but it also falls into the illegal category. The hunters have their zones and it would be in our best interest to respect that due to the fact that they already hate us for the most part. The hunters, as well as other users, have complained to the park about the trail building and it was brought to my attention, so continued use or expansion could cause issues. We must remember that we don't have a right to build trails where we want just because it's public property.

Ps:

TheDon, PS: to all of the above. I am not sure of the exact trails you might be referring to, but off of the Switchback are mostly the closed trials that were rerouted for when the fine folks at JORBA built the Switchbacks. Those old trails are nothing in comparison to the fun of Switchback.

The 3rd Sunday of each month they have a Trail Maintenance Day that all walkers, bikers and horseback riders are welcome to attend. Come on down and see for yourself the work that goes into these trails and you will be guaranteed a fun day and meet some cool folks. You Dig?

The trails i mention start on the above map at the "K" in switchbac"k" and route back and forth across the the sandy fire road, they are very new and i have seen horse prints in them. I was not aware we share the trails with hunters as well at horses and hikers, this sounds very dangerous since the orange trail and hog-bogs are right there too. I will avoid so said trails in the future.

Thedon, We share the main trails with all. Hunters have their little access paths so that they can find some solitude away from us and hikers which is good for all involved. Im still not sure of the trails your talking about other then that old sandy trail that the horse's use to get back to the other road . Anyway if you think it might be an unsanctioned trail your doing right by avoiding it. Thanks🙂
