I saw this post at the trailhead of the Batona trail. I was leaving Apple Pie Hill, heading to Carranza, so I used it. Has the no bike rule changed?

I've seen the new markers too, but am still under the impression that it's still off limits to bikes...If I run into a Ranger tomorrow, I'll ask and post on here...anyone else have further info? I've talked to a few guys who ride the Baytona, but IMHO, I think we could end up pissing off the tree-huggers who don't want us anywhere in the woods on our bikes, and we don't want to add any fuel to that fire thats for sure!

Speaking of tree hugers, I found this on my favorite trails. I walked about a mile just cleaning up.

JORBA has been inquiring about access to the Batona for over five years. The most recent inquiry was a month or so ago. Each time, the answer from the forestry staff is No Bikes on the Batona.

Knowing first hand the WSF's limited inventory of posts and stickers, am guessing that the WSF staff used up all the No Bicycle stickers on the hiking trails near Batsto. The WSF staff deployed more than a few of these last summer after receiving complaints about MTBrs riding the Batona and the Lake Trail.

Will ask again tomorrow about Batona access. I doubt the answer will be yes. But who knows.

I got to Apple Pie hill a round about way. I used all roads from the Batsto river side. Having the Fat bike, I can get ride in deeper sand. This got me out to CR532. Another road behind the Hunting Club, got me to Apple Pie Hill. On this road, I passed 4 fire cuts, all with the same Post, and stickers as the Batona. In other words, I don't need the Batona to get around, but it was nice for the 3 miles I was on it.
