Tariffs...what to make of them.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth:
Iran will beg for peace & let us pick their new leader.
President Trump told Axios in an interview Thursday that he needs to be personally involved in selecting Iran's next leader — just as he was in Venezuela.

Was nice to see ICE barbie get handed her papers....although I hope she made alot of money, because she is going to need it for lawyers soon enough. But as usual with this admiration, there is always a bigger shit head they can promote.

Meantime...the straight is still effectively closed, oil is going thru the roof, the regime has not changed....our bases have been heavily damaged, soldiers dead, billions in munitions and equipment burned thru

Oh and yet another fabulous jobs report

U.S. payrolls unexpectedly fell by 92,000 in February; unemployment rate rises to 4.4%

God, all of this winning....can you FEEL IT!
Yay! Turns out the stock market isn't fond of war, either. How's CACI's stock doing?

What about the Kuwait Port where our soldiers were killed. Also, three fighter jets were shot down in Kuwait by friendly fire. Just thinking that both were an inside job, they don't what us attacking another Muslim Countries on their soil. Anyone else thinking of this, too.

I figured they unlocked the AI.

Asymmetrical warfare-hypothesis is solid.

Curious as to what our munitions stockpile numbers are like currently. Years of producing and not using helps, but I can’t imagine that the produce a huge amount each year. I could be wrong.
Wasn’t the military budget cut by Trump during the whole doge thing?
We will never know if this decision saved millions of lives or if it was a waste of resources and created global destabilization.
Hoping that this resolves before digging us into an economic collapse.
Would be nice to be able to buy land at an affordable price though.

I've heard rumors $5/gal gas may be in the near future... I'm sure that will be fun... Fortunately, with WFH so I don't really drive that much. I've put gas in the minivan twice this year and the MINI once and at the rate I'm driving right now, I won't buy gas again until April.

While we in the US aren't affected by the supply issues, US companies do export a lot of gasoline and diesel and that results in domestic prices being affected by global supply issues. There is the argument, "Well... stop exports!" can have a ripple effect as many of the countries we export to are the same ones that use that fuel to build/grow products we need, so if we force them to spend more on fuels then the cost of those goods would more than likely go up substantially.

We only buy 10% of our oil from the middle east, so it shouldn't affect us as much as it does. But it's traded as a commodity on futures markets, so it's subject to the whims of "the market". Maybe this will kickstart interest in them newfangled electric cars. Are they still a thing?

This chart just shows how much oil and energy companies own all our asses. And further shows, unless they get to totally own it too, alternate solar, wind, hydro has no chance. While certainly disruptive, the middle east conflict will never have the big companies losing a dime. If nothing else, they'll do better. IMO

Were any of you guys in line for odd even day gas in 1974? My old man sold a new 10 mpg Lincoln Connie and bought an Opel. Lost about 5 Grand.

I was still in high school for '74, but can remember waiting in line in '79. Don't believe that was an actual shortage , just people going crazy worried about revolution in Iran.
