Hi All - asking the question below for a friend who is not on the board...

I have the old sram force 46/35 crankset and 10/33. Can I put a 10/36 on it with a new chain if needed?

I think it should be fine, but wanted to confirm. Does anyone have thoughts on this?

It depends on which derailleur he has. I’m not sure if they can all take a 36t on the rear cassette.

I'm not sure which derailleur he has on, but easy enough to obtain. Is the concern b screw limits, or if the cage on RD is medium/long kind of thing? Would that cause the RD jockey wheel to be too close to the large sprocket on cassette?

Some of the derailleur cages just aren’t long enough to go 36t. That’s why you see some “long cage” derailleurs, to accommodate bigger cassettes in the back.

He may be OK, but definitely get the exact model derailleur and see if it’ll go 36.

Is it electric?
