RW ORANGE paint? WTF!!???

Today's ride was great except that the red trail has been trashed with Orange paint! NO, it doesn't rub off. It doesn't react to water or spit either.

Sounds like the gang that hit Allaire.

This is a huge rock and the arrow is more than 2 feet long.
This isn't funny, my friends, this is vandalism.

Five feet away from the last picture, there are two orange arrows in this shot. They may be hard to see in the photo, but VERY easy to see in person.

I had to get back for a student, so we didn't venture further, but I can only imagine what they did to the rest of the brand new, insanely gorgeous red trail. These marks were NOT there Monday. Today, it's just sinful.

Sounds exactly the same as what Frank, et. al., described at Allaire. 'Might want to ping him and see what is going on with that.

It'd be interesting to see if the running club, or whatever it was, that allegedly did this at Allaire has an event planned for Ringwood.

This really stuns me. It is beyond me how anybody could do this and think it was "okay".

I work with a friend who's a runner and he says 99% of the time they use flour or chalk....I think these are just some of the "dense" folk in the bunch that don't seem to get that spray paint won't wash away. I wouldn't group them all together, but whoever did do this deserves a flogging.

:duh:-stupid

If a club, be it cyclists/runners/hikers/etc, are having a gathering and want to mark out a path for a weekend so all of the members know the specific route..... i have absolutely no problem with that... as long as they use a proper marking method (ie flour or chalk) that will wash away after the event.

Using that "permanent" marking spray is just plain negligent and disrespectful to everyone.... and worse off, it brings about these "bad feelings" towards their association.

I hope all of this gets resolved soon, and peacefully. It would be nice if someone took ownership and said something along the lines of "im sorry, i screwed up and it wont happen again. i'm going to try to clean up the markings and next time i promise to use flour or chalk"

I rode RW on Friday morning and the marks were there. In fact it screwed up my ride, cause I followed them and they took me off my intended route.🙁

I've checked the hasher's site and there is no mention. In fact there is nothing on their calendar at all. I'll check further for info. Meantime, I sent a note to Pixy and Mr. P who put incredible amounts of time, sweat and love into that park. They'll know best what to do about it and I'll be happy to help them. (Especially if it has anything to do with wringing necks)

this is almost a month and a half away, before you post this site, maybe make sure these are the people painting:hmmm:

If was someone it that group .. it looks like they have a bunch of "aid stations" that will be setup (looking at photos from their facebook group) .. which means they are working with the park officials. If it was them, then I hope the park officials will have something to say to them about the paint. Even a simple question from the officials "did you guys do this?" would help them see the err of their ways (assuming it was them).

That's really a stretch.

I wouldn't form a lynch mob yet. It is a mess, it's a sin and it sucks, but unlike Frank, we didn't catch anyone with a spray can in their hand. So we really can't accuse.

Let's just see what the Pixy team says and hope someone comes up with information or solutions in the meantime. And I'll plan to put in a call to park management if I don't hear from the P's tomorrow.

Check out the link that was posted, they have a facebook link on there site...

Yes but there is no mention of them painting arrows on the route. There are a number of Wall posts about the route. None of them mention marking the course in any way. It would not be fair to assume they are the ones responsible for the spray paint. I get the impression that this group would be bright enough to avoid marking the course with spray paint.

looks like they've also done other runs in other parks (patriot's path, split rock, etc..) no problems in those parks, i'm assuming

I think this has to be handled by Jorba in some kind of official way, not confrontational, or lynching anybody. It can become an issue if someone goes off on a group and all could loss the privilege to use the parks.

This can blow way out of control, and needs to be handle the right way..😀

If anyone dared spraypaint Patriot's path it would be a federal offense.
They would get some nice quiet time to think about changing their ways.
