Ok my wife is very new to riding a bike. She has very little time on a bike.
We have been going to Rutgers-New Brunswick by Rartin river. Its ok, but she not likening the cars so on. If there are paved bike paths or something like this away from cars it would be great. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks again..

How far do you want to drive?

There are canal paths along the Delaware River - flat and crushed stone - so easy terrain for a new rider on skinny or fat tires. There will be no vehicles on/near these paths, only street crossing in the main towns. If you want to connect the PA/NJ canal paths, you'll obvioulsy have some road riding, but you can easily stick to one State's paths. If you wife is anything like mine, she may enjoy some ancillary activities like window shopping and a nice lunch in any of the river towns - Lambertville/New Hope, Stockton, Frenchtown...

So you get to ride together, nose around in a fun little town, and she'll probabaly want to do it all again.

I have been there before. That is an idea.
The little town is there parking around that area by the trail?

the Manasquan reservoir is also very beginner friendly 5.2 mile loop crush stone 2 path a few bridges and 2 hills to grind up get her out there a few times then the both of you can come out on a Tuesday night ride..

Thank guys.

I am really dealing with a challenge with my wife.
One she is hearing impaired, she wear hearing aids, and her confidence in riding is very low.

I finally just got her to know how to change her gears and use both breaks, taking off from a complete stop. Next thing is getting her to stand.

I think I will be using something I learned from the clinic this weekend, getting cones and have her balance like we did Saturday. My Puerto Rican Rose from the Bronx just trying to get her to the next level, at her speed.😉.

Great content in this short thread!

My wife is just now getting back into riding a bike after our 2 boys are ready to now ride (4 and 7). This is a great little directory of trails and paths that I can bring the family to.

Thanks for the post!

A few weeks ago we tried the Henry Hudson path from The Bicycle Hub in Marlboro/Wikatunk off of Rt 79. My little guy (age 4) is still on training wheels so I stayed back with him while my wife and older son went on ahead. "It was super awesome!" <<< Their words 😉

I'm going to try all these other paths as well though.
