More land?

does that mean that the quarry belongs to somerset county? if so, i hope they let it fill with water cause that would be sahweet! the potential for trails with tons of exposure is totally there, and the climbing possibilities on the 3m land are sick too, not that i would know😉

3M Quarry Sale...

I am certain that this will impact the trails here.. In a good way??

Thanks for posting this, J.

It depends which parcel of land 3M sold to Somerset County. If it's the land that is already in use (ie site of the new 3 Amigos trail and surrounding land North of Roaring Rocks), that's great news. If there's additional land involved, that's even better news.

Adam, I am sure the quarry itself isn't up for grabs just yet... The Silvi Group, (the buyers) have been in the cement and sand business for years. You may have seen cement mixer trucks in the area bearing their name... Hard rock mining is apparently new for them, and it would appear they wish to take over the hard rock mining operation from 3M.

The company is not without controversy.. .apparently there's a watchdog group in PA who doesn't particularly like these guys...

The Silvi brothers were apparently found guilty of bribing a county official (back in 1991), but later received a full pardon by (President) Bill Clinton... hmmmm.....

I checked out their website, and they have a public relations group and seem to at least project a community-minded spirit... hmmmm.....

We'll have to watch this one closely....
