Longest external dropper post in 27.2?

a.s.

Mr. Chainring
The longest external dropper I’ve found is 110mm. I was hoping for 130-150mm. Anyone know of anything out there in a 27.2 post?

I have a Thomson Elite external dropper 27.2 that I believe is 125mm drop. Used on my IndyFab SS. Looking at the website, I don't see any dropper posts at all. FYI, it had to be serviced about 150 miles of use. Been sitting in the box since it returned.

Contacted Thomson via Contact Us. Got a response that they've pulled back from any dropper posts because of supply issues.

I have this one on my gravel bike and have been happy with it. It was the longest one I could find when I went hunting a few years ago. I think there was maybe a 125mm available but it was double the price.

Thanks but I need external routing.

It was always a little upsetting that they were known as the US-made company and then when going into droppers they went overseas.

This is for an old DJ bike I’m restoring. You’d be proud. 😁
I did this several years ago and although I found a few, it turned out none were available. I really wanted that Thomson….

Post source if you find any. I could use a dropper on my Banshee missing link SS/BMX/MTB.

Old DJ frame? Yeah... I'd probably just drill a hole. I'm having a similar debate as I ponder rebuilding/resto-modding my '97 IF Deluxe that due to some damage incurred during a frozen post removal, isn't really worth selling... So I may as well keep it and rebuild it...

150mm is a lot to ask of the very slim post required for a 27.2 dropper.

I had a 27.2mm Thomson external dropper years ago on my old Vassago. Honestly, due to how the cable runs and attaches at the seat base (vs. the PNW style that attaches at the top of the fixed post), I would not recommend it. It's fine when extended, but the routing gets really cramped when dropped. I had to replace the cable and housing a couple of times because of it. I sold the bike back in 2020 when the getting was good, and the post went with it.
