Huckleberry trail conditions

The section of trail from the bridge out to the stump dump is really wet and muddy. It's pretty rutted up now, some of the ruts are more than rim deep. I don't think its too much to ask the riders to walk that section if they really need to ride out there.
There are ALOT of dead branches out on the trail. I cleaned some off the trail but it's still a mess. You would never have thought that we just had a TM out there. We also had 4 or 5 big trees blow down across the trail, completely covering the trail. No riding over these!
For the most part the trail is in pretty good shape. It's a little mushy in some spots.I think it needs another week or two then it should be solid and dry. As far as the downed trees go,I think we will be hiking around them for a while.

I was out there today around 11 1130 noticed a good amount of down trees on the white trail and the green was pretty flooded on one part. Anyone know when the next TM is i would like to help

Came in from Carranza around 9:00 this morning. Did not get too far. What takes 45 min. to ride, took 1hr 45min. Same as you guys found, except the water part. Very dry.

The Penn Branch Trail, south of Mount is also flooded. Maybe one foot of water for thirty yards
Have been sawing and throwing deadfall since Friday. The eastern side of the PennBranch is passable albeit with some new large logovers for the advanced riders. (Just like the new logover by the trailhead.) Hope to clear the western and northern sides today. And ask about the availability of a two person crosscut logging saw for clearing those large pines off of the Huckleberry Trail on the next scheduled TM day.
Many acres of oak trees were killed by the gypsy moths several years ago. And now the dead trees are all starting to fall. Welcome to LogLand at the Shore.

The quick thaw and flooding rains have left sections of the southeast corner of the FireTower Trail (green) waterlogged (near the bridge, near the stump dump) and are started to rut from the abuse. Please avoid riding these sections. Use the western side for an out-n-back lollipop loop on the Huckleberry (blue), Teaberry (red) and OakHill (white). Or even use the Oak Hill Trail as a substitute for the SE corner of the Fire Tower Trail.

Two sections of the eastern side of the Penn Branch Trail (orange) are waterlogged. Both sections lie in between Quaker Bridge Rd and Penn Branch Rd. Please use the doubletrack that runs parallel to the trail (Mount Rd.)

All other areas of trail are in prime shape.

Check the maps for clarification or email me at Wharton at JORBA. org for info and/or amusement. Or join us on Saturday morning 3/27/10 for a ride (wheels out at 10:00) on the dry trails.
