For fitness sake

After 50 I’d say the gym makes more of a difference than anything you can do on a bike.
Curious what makes you say that... I've found that biking improves my cardio condition better than any other form of exercise, even running. I used to lift more weights as part of my regimen but even after gaining some strength in my legs and upper body, I didn't really notice a remarkable difference when riding. I kind of found the opposite, that time on the bike, especially conquering tough climbs and obstacles, was what made the biggest improvements to my fitness.

But hey, I'm no guru when it comes to this sort of thing hence why i ask the question...

There’s a ton of studies out there on the basics like injury prevention, bone loss, muscle loss, etc…but one of the bigger advantages is that you can never put the same amount of effort into pedaling a bicycle as you can doing deadlifts or squats. You effectively increase the fatigue limit of your muscles.

This also assumes you’ve spent time building an engine doing Z2 road rides and such.

It’s a 2-part process. Build engine, build strength to use engine.

Finally got around to ordering the needed ingredients for an electrolyte mix. Followed the LMNT recipe @Jeremy posted earlier.

I didn’t add sweetener but not bad tasting with lime juice. Batch is about 30 servings and only put a dent in supplies. Much cheaper than buying name brand.

I did this a few weeks ago... Not bad... Maybe a little too salty as I finish my ride feeling kinda parched if I drink two bottles

Finishing up a heat adaptation block.

Did sauna 4 days, hot tub one day and now the old painter suit on the trainer today. Science seems to back the benefits so we'll see in 2 weeks if it was worth the effort in Arkansas.
