Fat winter cleaning and maintenance

I don't have a fat bike yet but I'm seriously considering. I'm wondering when temperatures goes below freezing how do you maintain the bikes? Route a hose from inside going out, pressure wash from self-service car wash, or just hand-wipe?

Also lube is recommended - I like White Lightning Epic. Do I need heavier wet lube?

I got my eye on a Farley 9.6.

I have used white lightening for the past two years on my fatties without issue.

Washing is all hand wipe/wash as my hose bin is shut off.

Don't over think things, it is just a regular bike with bigger tires.

Buy a fat bike now!!!!

After a ride I just rub some fresh snow all over the frame/fork/rims/tires(if needed)... the built in scrubbies do a great job cleaning 😉

You don't have hot and cold hose bibs ? You can get them at any plumbing supply , no need to shut outside water off if it's installed correctly . Always good to have hot water out the hose .

Thanks for the bike info and bib. Never knew that existed. Really helpful.

I need to get 1Up USA bike carrier first (I prefer platform). My Kuat Sherpa cannot take larger than regular MTB tires and no adapters available.
OR will deflating tires fit the craddle?!?? I'll just inflate before rides.

I'll test ride different sizes this weekend to determine which size to get. I'm sorta in-between sizes.

The 1up works great with a fat bike when you get the fat bike kit, wheels great with a skinnie with the fat kit too.

I wipe my bike with WD40 to get the salt off, clean the chain etc just like a normal bike

Thanks for the 1UP info Supermoto. I guess the 'wheel saver' option is not required for roadie or cross. I was affraid it would wobble or be unstable. Might as well get the fat kit on the 2nd add-on rack for consistency.

I love my Farley 7, bike is sick.

If you're running tubeless, deflating the tires is not practical unless you don't mind re-seating the tires and refilling sealant every time. Depending on the tire/rim combo, some fat tires practically fall off the rim when you deflate them.

Some of mine I have to stand on the tire to break the bead. But they are all different and it would suck to get to the trail and realize you can't inflate your tires because the bead is off

@hardtale70 too bad I need 15 (small) and maybe a slight possibly medium.
Thank for confirming not to deflate. Tubes not an option these days. Tubeless definitely.
Ordered 1UP with fat adapter and test riding this weekend. Yes, appointment book. yay! Need to come back from HPCX in one piece though.

I have an NV and get away without much special. Minimal if any issues just centering the tire over the cradle pretty well and really clamping down with the arm. I have added small camping gear straps to strap the bottom of the wheel to the cradle also, but haven't bothered recently. They do offer an extension ratchet strap for the rear, although prior to getting one I just used a strap to hold to the bar.
One possible issue i recall from researching racks last winter was that the Sherpa technically only supported up to a certain size wheelbase. Remember it being just short of my FS29er.

Love my Farley 7 and eyeing some carbon cranks and wheel set. BTW, get those tires setup tubeless and you will drop 1.5 lbs.
