Diary of a Macman

MTB DVD's should get Academy awards

Picked up a couple of MTB DVD's and watched one last night.

It was 'Sprung 6'. IMHO this DVD is far superior than anything hollywood or bollywood produced this year

My Criteria:

  • It less preditable than a TOm HankenCruise Movie
  • Better Sound Trick
  • No One gets wacked, yet many are injured
  • Awesome Scenery
  • Family Friendly

I give this movie 4 out of 4 big chain rings, but would have like to scene Sam Hill, but they gave us a bikini clad senior citizen and a mummified comedian

good stuff.

what's in your dvd player that's noetworthy to the mtb community????

Any more multi sport in 2009

Any more multi sport in '09. I heard of one on L.I. but I have very little kayaking experience. Only critieria is that it's off-road and less than 2 hours from North Jersey.

are you talking about adventure racing? from what i know, the season is done for the year..whats this race in LI you are talking about?

Hither Hills/Tour of the Shore Triathlon
I am thinking of doing the Tour of the Shore triathlon which has the bike leg through Hither Hills. It hits the stephen Talkhouse trail, Old North Road and Coastal Trail. Any recommendations on bike, e.g. hard tail or F.S. and tire selection? I've never ridden on Long Island so I am unfamiliar with the area. Any info about the trails would be appreciated
I think this race is today. NY is good but I'd rather go upstate 2 hours, then 2 hours out on the island, plus sitting in traffic on the LIE another 2.

With the kayaking my bro-in-law was giving me lessons, saying 'put your oar all the way in' as you get a better stroke. Be that as it may. I'm still looking for off-road multi, maybe mass or n.h are in the cards this year.

I recon the white trail of Ramapo is the Todd Trail

http://www.nynjtc.org/hike/millstone-trail-and-todd-lake-ramapo-mountains said:
The trail now climbs rather steeply. At the top of the rise, a municipal water tower may be seen just ahead. After passing a viewpoint over Todd Lake from a rock ledge to the left, the trail descends to the lake. It passes another ledge at water level, with a view over the lake, and continues to parallel the lake. Near the lake's south end, the Yellow Trail turns right and soon ends at a woods road, the route of the white-blazed Todd Trail.

Turn right, now following the white blazes. After another woods road joins from the left, the Todd Trail turns left and follows a footpath into the woods. It climbs gradually, descends to a shallow ravine, then ascends on a winding, rocky footpath, with several switchbacks. When it reaches Skyline Drive, the trail turns right and continues for about 200 feet to the triple white blaze, opposite the parking area where the hike began.

The Highest I been around here is in Harriman 1200 feet on a road bike as I was passed by motorcycles and a hiker on the appy trail crossed paths:drooling:
