$300.00 and a bridge

What happened to the plans for the bridge at Cross Brook on Red Dot (the spot where Cross Brook joins with Six Mile Run, the spot with the high bank and chunk of concrete?) I actually sent $300.00 to JORBA people care of Halter's. The check went uncashed for months, then was cashed. I had met a JORBA fellow on Red Dot and he assured me that the bridge was coming. That was why I offered the money

This is on the docket for the fall. I am sure that you can only imagine the huge pain it might be to get state approval for projects like this.

So far they have yes.. then just wait, and yes and soon..

It will happen. Things just move slower than i might like.

I don't have the time, energy or poison ivy resistance to tackle this in the mid summer.

One day it will appear and you will smile.

Thanks for the reply.

I saw some guys today and when I told them I had made the donation, they advised me of your reply.

That was me that you ran into at the Sourlands today. Thanks for noticing the hard work we put in at all the JORBA parks and thanks for your financial support. I have no doubt that you will be proud of the bridge once Jdog and his crew are done.

I spoke to Stephanie Fox today. She actually remembered me. I told her how pleased we were, she was fine. She never mentioned anything negative. Canal Rd and bikes never came up. She told me how much of a struggle it had been, but that, of course, she was pleased that it had gotten done and that we were happy.

The park folks don't see the old red as an issue, because it has always been a closed trail in their eyes anyway.

I just hope they continue to look the other way and let the right of way remain open although it is technically not a recognized and legal trail.

500 + signatures on a petition and they still won't make a change.

I am so glad I don't work for the government. I have no idea how they get anything done.

J, as others have suggested (and even though red near canal is not officially open), how about a small plastic sign right near canal that reads: "Narrow road ahead, please STOP and look before exiting the trail" This would be akin to the signs at Middlebush road crossing. I realize the park considers the trail closed, but pretty certain people will ride that section anyway and if enough car/bike encounters result, it will only stir the pot again. If we post a sign, perhaps we can mitigate the issue? It's been a while since I've ridden there, so perhaps there's a sign already?😕
