29er front tire recommendations

I know tire preference is personal but I want want to replace my Nobby Nic 2.35 with another tire. I like the NN but the knob pattern allows for sand to go from one side of tire to other. Does not wash out the front often but I do have to save it from time to time. Trails range from Sandy Allaire to Rocky Sourlands. Is the Maxxis DHR2 too heavy a tire for NJ? Want to keep weight down but need sidewall protection? Thoughts???
Thanks

I also vote for minion dhf.

Also I really do not like schwalbe tires, in my experience the side knobs always rip off and wear out way too early.

I had the same experience, but with the new compound this has been fixed. I run a Nobby Nic 2.35 in the back during the winter (XR2 in the summer) and so far its been really good

How is the grip on the Addix in your experience?

iv found it be plenty grippy, no issues
When I was mounting the Addix on my 29er wheel, I was reminded of my ride at KVSP with the Performance 2.25 NN.
After riding the Maxxis Rekon 2.8 plus tires for over half a year.... the Performance NN sucked big time. Granted... unfair comparison and different compound but it had me question if I made good decision. But I did get the Addix 2.35 for under $50 per tire so.... worth the risk?

yea i think youll be fine, i have the addix 27.5x2.8s that came on my fuel and the addix 29x2.35s (also for my fuel, interestingly enough) and you will have less grip with the 2.35s than the 2.8s, but you adjust quickly and its not an issue.

Always ran a DHF out front, recently made the switch to the newer WTB vigilante 29x2.6 just to try something different. Turns out it has become my new go to tire. Rolls very well for a knobby front tire and cornering grip is as good if not better than the DHF. Liked the tire so much I decided to pair it with a Trail Boss 2.5 in the rear. Boom new favorite tire combo. So long Maxxis, for now anyway.
Cheers

The 2.6 and over you guys are referencing, do those work on normal (shitty) 29er forks and rears or are yours boost?
