Do you wonder why people hate roadies?

I used to ride with a large group also, but in 2011, I stopped. last year and this year I ride mostly alone. I find that it is easier to adhere to road etiquette, keep a lower profile and not get in the way... That is not to say, I do not have my share of 'words' with some drivers. Even when...

Do you wonder why people hate roadies?

I can assure you Bike N Gear...the shop, owner, and 'racers' out of there probably won't give two shites about it. Some of the worst riding etiquette from the blue and white jersey group. I live in the area and deal with these lot all of the time. I ride mostly on the road but I also drive a...

The Toughest Road Climbs in NJ

Yea, no doubt it's a tough 1 mile climb... It's on my list for next Spring! Along with a few other hills I have not ridden yet.

The Toughest Road Climbs in NJ

Chris, that section is actually Middle Valley before Zellers. Oh yea, that switch back section is steep! Must be like 15% or more. I climbed up both about 2 weeks ago. I think Middle Valley is tougher than Zellers, shorter but steeper. Geo

    post your century rides.

I know this is a bit short at 92 miles, but I figure with approx., 9k of climbing, I could squeak by? :p (I also figure if TedH didn't get any grief for his 91 miler in June 2011...) I'll be okay! :D My phone died 6-7 miles before the end...so the map is a bit screwy at the end...

    Big Bad Hills

Rode up Milford-Staats and Ademic Hill out in Hunterdon Co., this past Saturday. Man, those were tough imo. Both came late in my ride, starting around mile 65 of 92 I think. Not long, but steep section on each. Some real nice roads out there and great scenery...

The Toughest Road Climbs in NJ

Got one for the list... I descended it and I should have climbed it instead. It's on the 'to-do-list' :D Waughaw Rd in Montville I believe. About 1.1 miles long, with a couple of good twists. Fairly steep, with a section of 23%. Looks like 400-500' gain maybe.

The Toughest Road Climbs in NJ

Nice! 111 feet of ascension per mile. I was thinking about that today in fact. Yesterday I rode to Randolph and wound up with 68 miles and 6900' or 101' APM. Personally, I feel that this is a better indicator of how hard a ride is compared to the overall distance. I was talking with my...

    Ride to Sussex/Sparta area

Thanks guys! Sounds like some good routes. :) I was thinking maybe Saturday, maybe even tomorrow. But I'm sure traffic will be a bear on Friday. I would venture up on Sunday, but afraid not too many stores for some food and water would be open... I like the idea of the Morristown...

The Toughest Road Climbs in NJ

YES! I agree Jake! That climb seemed brutal to me. Right off the bat, the grade was fairly steep. It became a little easier as it went on. Short but tough imo.

The Toughest Road Climbs in NJ

Norm, are these average of gradients? I recently climbed Drakestown from River road, that double hairpin road seemed like more than 6%, and Mt harmony is only 4%, wow, here I thought I was ascending some decent climbs...but maybe I just suck! : D So far I've done all on the list except...
