SS conversion Soulcraft makes a nice conversion kit. It's not really a temporary thing even if you leave your shifters on but it sure makes riding fun!

Distance to ST I have just over 3 miles from the parking to the trailhead so depends where they put the start on Ridge Rd but approx. 3 miles.
