Tariffs...what to make of them.

And who has been ruling NJ ? The D's? And you guy's keep complaining the Trump hasn't stopped the Ukraine war as he promised? Are you now taking the helicopter pilot Gov to case for not lowering utility bills as she campaigned on? When's the no Queen protest? You're going? Maybe ask fellow musician billionaire Bruce or Bongiovi with your gig pay? Any hypocrisy anywhere?
It's funny that you think she's acting like a Queen compared to how trump acts.

While im not going to wave poms poms for Sherill or any other NJ governor....our taxes have go up under every governor....They always do and I am no fan of it...BUT, at least unlike say alabama and some of the other shitholes in this country....We have a functioning education system, we have some of the highest paying jobs and some of the lowest violent crime....Do I think we pay to much for that? yes...That said....A NJ governor cannot control the global energy market which 20% of is now being "totally obliterated"......There is no way anyone's energy prices are going down until the 20% is back into the market....And seeing as how the Israeli's blew up the worlds largest natural gas production facility yesterday, expect those prices to skyrocket as well. 47-49% of NJ energy production comes from Natural gas, so get ready for another spike in your electric bill.

You want to get pissed off? How about the pentagon now asking for 200 BILLION DOLLARS in supplemental funds for the war.....This is on top of a trillion dollar budget, and a proposed 1.5 Trillion for next year.

US may ease restrictions on Iranian oil: Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent

The United States may ease restrictions on Iranian oil already at sea, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Fox Business, as Washington looks to stabilise global supply.

He added that the US could also carry out a unilateral release of oil reserves.

Bessent said earlier this week that Iranian oil tankers have already been leaving the Strait of Hormuz with US awareness, helping supply global markets.

More details are expected as his remarks emerge.

This is how you know people in the WH are shitting their pants right now. How many Venezuelan tankers did we just "take"? We could do the exact same thing with any Iranian tanker, easily.....Why aren't we? If we take their tankers it is the one that that will hurt them and cut off their money supply.....We are not doing this because they are shitting bricks about the price of oil. Removing restrictions on Iranian oil? Are you kidding me? When you are at war with said country? (we did this with Russia too) They cannot handle any further decreases in the oil supply.

I'll stay away from the political discussion, but insinuating that military pilot experience does not qualify an individual for a governorship is wild to read. These are some of the best and brightest among us. 90% of applicants to the Navy's flight school are not accepted, up to 30% drop out before earning wings, the training lasts near 3 years, and only 6% of active navy helo pilots are women.

I'd take military aviator experience over just about any other field of work to judge someone's character, intellect and leadership potential.

It's too bad trump's bone spur couldn't prohibit him from being Commander in Chief.

I posted this earlier, when I was on furlough, regarding unemployment payments:
As an aside, in NJ we are eligible for up to $900ish/wk for 26 weeks. My friend in FL is eligible for $275/wk up to 12 weeks and they're notorious for approving you but not actually paying out. You get the government service you pay for, I guess.

If we're talking about property taxes, they're set and collected locally. Do Republican towns have significantly lower property taxes? It's weird to me that the state steps in to provide property tax relief given the fact that property taxes don't fund state government in any way. Maybe we should view the property tax relief programs as a benevolent gift from the state (kinda joking here but not totally). I don't think any governor has the ability to have a major impact on energy prices other than maybe gasoline taxes and such. Public utilities like electric and natural gas are already heavily regulated and profit restricted in NJ by the BPU.

It means my wife is freaking out since she retires in 2 weeks.
I can imagine... I've been looking at a lot of various strategies as I (hope to) retire in less than 5 years. One of them is the "bucket strategy" and making sure you have enough in non-investment (cash) reserves to ride out downturns like this for at least a year while the markets recover without having to pull from those accounts, thus turning paper losses (values of shares) into real losses (actually selling those shares).

Yeah. We’re good but it won’t stop her from complaining.

Nikkei is off 4.92% their morning. Cost of the "Excursion" is >$20mm in three weeks. After 4.1.26 the curve of the WTI spot price will begin to steepen.
