Post Your Doggo [woof]

Found a small lump under her armpit so brought Shelby in to get it checked out. She’s a bit anxious in general but she loves the car and she really loves the one veterinarian who’s been taking care of her since she was a puppy.

She got bored waiting for 30 minutes and was nearly falling asleep.

Took a needle sample and thankfully it’s just a fatty tumor (lipoma) which isn’t uncommon for around her age at almost 8. Nothing to do just monitoring it for growth. VERY relieved.

However he did find a cracked molar tooth that needs to come out so that’s scheduled for end of March. She needed some pre surgery blood work for that. The vet tech really liked the command I use for her exams (Check) where she’s taught to stay still he said it worked perfect and I wasn’t even in the room. She got some extra treats when we got home.

Read something on those types of tumors. It was done by the University of Pittsburg, saying it is related to their gut, but I forgot about the treatment. It was done by diet.

So here we are pre surgery car ride and post surgery return home.

Full dental cleaning and cracked tooth extraction. Wasn’t infected yet so no root canal needed. We decided to remove the previously mentioned fatty tumor since she was already going to be under. Doc said it was better we did since it was tucked under some of the muscle and if it got bigger would have had to come out anyway. Zero chance it would have turned to cancer or anything just more about her mobility.

Also found she had mild ear infection in right ear which may have just flared up this week somehow so they took care of that too.

None of this is complaining it’s more about making sure she stays around as long as possible and these things happen. There is nothing we wouldn’t do to make her comfortable and stay healthy. I’ll take a cracked tooth and fatty tumor removal over anything else that could be wrong with her all day long. Worth the $1700+ check I just wrote.

We have the same vet for over 25 years also with our prior dog and cats too. He says Shelby is a very healthy, fit and strong (almost) 8 year old and to keep doing whatever we are doing.

Moved my work laptop to the recliner so we can hang and she is hard asleep and snoring at my feet.
