Let's hear some opinions about the current gravel bikes

So I finally pulled the trigger on an allied able. It only took a few weeks to get to me but then winter kept on doing it's thing. So I took my time getting it assembled and setup. Last Saturday I finally took it out of the house for a few hours. I never bothered to take pics of the bike during the ride, cause what good is a picture of a gravel bike on salt covered roads? It felt really good to be out on it though and I'm looking forward to getting acquainted with it in the coming months.

What size tires? Isn't it illegal to run an Abel with less than 2.1/2's?

Why do you have a cassette on the front? 🤪

Seriously tho, great looking build, best of luck with it!!!

Lol, Yeah it felt strange to buy a bike with large tire clearance and then run 45's but don't worry, I have another wheelset with 2.1's that I'm looking forward to getting out on. I figure I'll swap between them depending upon the type of ride I plan on taking. Climby/primarily road=lightweight boys with the 45's and then a setup w/~2's for real gravel.

Thank you!

The industry is already in a death spiral, might as well go balls deep. I'm holding out until they do a 32inch drop bar fat bike with internal headset routing, T58 bottom bracket, 300mm dropper post, and a 27-speed cassette.
e-bike 3400W also? come on Jim!

27? Sounds like a nice campy group.

I guess since we're sharing gravel bike pics, here's my Rodeo Labs Flaanimal 5.0. Built this up last year with Paper Trail over in Philly. GRX 12 speed (10-51), Spinergy GX wheels, and 45c Gravelking X1's. Super fun bike, feels way more compliant and capable than my last gravel bike (On One Rujo).

I’ve chilled out with Paul at PAPERtrail after riding Wiss. Very cool shop. He’s a great guy and that is a damn sexy bike Rob!

Cheers! Paul's the man and he did a great job on the buildup. I'm usually over there on Saturdays for the Mountain Espresso ride too. This bike was actually a shop demo bike that he offered to sell me after we discovered Rodeo Labs was sold out of 54cm Flaanimals until Q1 '26.
