    Chimney Rock Conditions

Muddy Went yesterday (Nov. 30) and found the trails to be pretty sloppy. I expected it on the lower portions, but was surprised how muddy they were even at the higher spots. I felt bad riding on them in those conditions, so cut my ride short out of respect for those that maintain these trails.

hello to all. new guy from sayreville, nj

Welcome. Cheesequake has a group of trails, but only one - White (?) - is multi-use and allows bikes. It's short, but maybe a bit technical at spots for a young rider. I won't speak to riding on the other trails or night-riding through the park, but will suggest using only the multi-use trail...

    Directions to Six Mile Run

This is a great map. A couple different times out, I've ended up handing over a copy of the map to trail users that got a bit confused. From Rt. 27, we like Red to Orange (twisties) to Red to White to Jaques Lane. Take road around to Canal parking lot and catch Blue back to Red/Orange to Rt...

    Cages, Goat

I think that sign is a remnant of the Rumble.

    EMT-B's

Hey Mike, do you mean Tom H.? He was overseeing the NJRSP-Bike Patrol group at the Rumble this past Sunday (while Steve was at the Wawa race with another NJRSP-BP group). Tom knows every inch of the Jungle and has been there for each of the races we've patrolled at JH this year.

    EMT-B's

Through NMBP, I hooked up locally with the New Jersey Region Bike Patrol . It's part of the New Jersey Region National Ski Patrol (www.nspnj.org). NJRBP covers a number of NJ bike races/events every year (like yesterday's Rumble in the Jungle and simultaneous Adventure Race at Wawayanda)...

    EMT-B's

+1 EMT-B. And being a National Moutain Bike Patroller allows the opportunity to do both at once.

    Where is trailhead

I'd like to see this place fixed up, and think more bikes there would be a good thing. But that said, parking is iffy, and the place needs some more maintenance. With Chimney Rock, Six Mile Run, Round Valley, Sourlands, etc. around, I'm not sure I can confidently say it's worth checking out...

    Lost & Found

Lost a pair of black, full fingered Fox gloves, size L, this past Saturday morning at 6MR. I was parked in the Rt. 27 lot at the trees on the soccer field side of the lot. I think I left them hanging on the hitch rack. Don't know where they fell off. Long shot, I know, but posting just in...

    Where is trailhead

I was just getting ready to share a map link from mtbnj, but clarkenstein beat me to it! The maps are OK, but I find them confusing because of all the "side' trails. We usually just navigate around and have managed to not get lost. If you go too far in any one direction, it seems you just end...

    Where is trailhead

You really should look at it on Google maps because the street names on the RU Livingston campus are somewhat silly. Here are "official" directions per the RU Eco Preserve brochure... From River Rd. in Piscataway, turn onto Cedar Lane. Go about 1/2 mile and take a left onto what's called...

    Any updates?

We were at the preserve last week for a fast evening spin/workout. It was fast - the dryest we've ever seen this place. There didn't seem to be much trash, and there were no people (given the late evening hour). I'm guessing this is a low priority for RU given the current $ climate. As...

    Conditions?

The Blue runs from the Canal Rd. lot and hits Red not too far beyond a river crossing. So I guess by starting from the White, catching the Blue will take you to Canal Rd. JORBA has a great map of 6MR to use for reference. I think it's posted here on mtbNJ as well.

    29ers are the DEVIL

The gearing was really good. Tires too, with low psi. But this is based on 6MR in near perfect condition. We go to Chimney Rock alot. We'll see how well I hold up there. Given today's ride, I'm pretty confident it won't be so bad. We'll see.
