Trail Maintenance - don't do this

Lining the trail with logs like that just traps the water and makes the mud worse in the long run. It's better to focus on proper drainage so the soil can actually dry out. Those "bridges" hikers make usually just end up sinking and widening the mess.

Is strava going from suck to blow?

Paywalling the leaderboards and segment analysis is definitely a huge blow to the community aspect. It’s basically stripping away the main reason most people used the app for free. I guess they really need that subscription revenue now.

Sleep?!?! How do you do it?

Reading the DOT handbook saves your career. A medical card does not protect a commercial driver in the States. I deal with similar sleep issues in the UK. I went the official route through Releaf. Taking thc gummies before bed forces a full night of sleep.

What are you cooking right now?

Those deviled eggs with jalapeño and chipotle sound way better than the usual boring version. Honestly, once you add a little heat, regular deviled eggs feel kind of sad.

Why do people have coaches for years on end?

A lot of people keep coaches because accountability is the real product, not just the program. Most people know what to do, they just perform better when someone is watching and adjusting things when life gets messy.

Looking for work: UX Designer / Product Designer role

I know it's been months since you posted, but Upwork remains a great option if you know how to filter the noise. Manual filtering is a slow death, so I chose to use https://apify.com/upwork-vibe/upwork-job-scraper instead . It pulls relevant jobs in seconds without me even having to visit the...

Which tires are you running in 2026?

Maxxis Rekon 2.4 is a solid choice for the rear if you're riding a lot of the rocky trails in North Jersey. It provides enough bite for the climbs while staying relatively light for the transitions. To deal with the decision between the different casing options, I looked at the puncture...

Help with chain compatibility, what is the least number of chains to be in the tool box!

That is such a cool project for the team. Honestly, KMC is a lifesaver for situations like this because they play nice with almost everything. If you stock 10, 11, and 12 speed KMC chains, you can usually get a rider back on the trail regardless of the drivetrain brand. Just make sure to have...

    The Good Deals Thread

Sweet find on that Giro helmet! I was actually looking for a new one since my old lid is pretty beat up, but I need a medium. If anyone sees a deal on an Ionos or even a Synthe in other sizes, let me know. Good call on starting this thread, it's gonna be super helpful for keeping the gear costs...

    2025 Garden Thread

Those cages look great for keeping the deer away while they're young. We just started our prep as well, mostly focused on the perennial beds. Once it gets messy with the maintenance of real fruit trees, I sometimes mix in high-quality greenery from Silks Are Forever to keep the yard looking...

    Official name change request

Haha love the new name idea. Honestly bacon is way better than rib anyway so you should go for it. Hope the admins see this and get it swapped for you soon.

    Winter Gloves

I have a pair of these too and they're surprisingly good for the price. I used to struggle with frozen fingers on night rides but these keep the wind out way better than my old expensive ones. They aren't great for texting but if you just want to keep your hands warm without spending a ton of...

I Could and Would Use Another Fat Bike

Looks solid, and I love the bright blue frame. Crazy to think it still only comes in around 50 lbs fully kitted out. Ventana really knows how to balance strength and rideability on their tandems.
