What have you done to your bike today?

Cut the rear brake bosses off the old steel 26" steel MTB that was converted to a gravel bike. The front fork is next.

Reverse jerk stem to compensate for upping this bike to 120mm. Also flipped the bars upside down. With the rear shock mods and custom bushings I finally got this thing dialed in before ai sell it and buy an Epic 9 😂

Maybe.

I was looking for one of those Syncros integrated bar stems like nino ran but I think I cut my steerer too short already.

I need a similar stem for a 35mm bar.

Didn't you recently replace the motor? Is it under warranty, if not, what's the cost
It's actually been over two years since I replaced it which is pretty good for me. No warranty. I probably could have gotten a new motor for less than I paid. After my last motor replacement I saved the old motor and sent it out to https://ebikemotorrepair.com/?v=0b3b97fa6688. They rebuild and also do upgrades so I went all in on every upgrade to see if I can get a motor to last longer. They said with the upgraded parts they usually last almost twice as long as a stock motor. We will see. They do sell the parts to DIY, but the motor I sent them looked pretty bad when I opened it up as the shredding belt had done a bunch of damage to the housing.

This is what they offer:

Brose S-MAG Models – Service and Overhaul Options (Shipping not included)

  1. Basic Service – $296.91
Reuses your motor’s existing crank bearings, includes clutch bearings, sealed needle roller, carbon fiber belt, labor, and 365-day warranty.
  2. Upgrade Service – $599.75
Reuses your motor’s existing crank bearings, includes sealed needle roller, carbon fiber belt, heavy-duty clutch sprag bearings, complete seal kit, labor, and 365-day warranty.
  3. Basic Overhaul – $715.00
Replaces all bearings and belt with factory-spec parts, including drive assembly bearings (sealed needle roller), sprags, carbon fiber belt, labor, and 365-day warranty.
  4. Upgraded Overhaul – $905.00
Includes all drive assembly bearings, heavy-duty sprag bearings, complete seal kit, carbon fiber belt, labor, and 365-day warranty.

Sooooo, now you got me curious. I’m assuming your usage is fairly typical and i know you’re within the normal rider size range (I.E. you’re not 6’6” 260lbs). So, the question is; about how many miles (or maybe it’s usage hours?) do these motors actually last?

Brakes cleaned, bled & re-bed...stopping great now! Spilling most of this bottle of mineral all over the floor tho...was very unpleasant. 😡😡

Added a pop of color with the bottle cages...not crazy about them, but they do hold a bottle great.

Installed some new tires:
  • WTB Peacekeeper 2.4 Front - 120 TPI - Light/Fast
  • WTB Macro 2.4 Rear - 120 TPI - Light/Fast
Very similar tread profile to the Rekon & Rekon Race they're replacing but they're both several ounces lighter (especially the Peacekeeper vs the Rekon...the Macro was just a few ounces lighter than the Rekon Race)...the 120 TPI should be more supple.

I have one ride on the Peacekeeper front & already like it better than the Rekon...gonna test the combo today, but I have high hopes.

This will be my race set-up for this Saturday...but I may swap the 34T chainring to a 32.

First impressions.... Damnit it's so good. Takes so much less time, zero messing with the cores, airflow is great.
I'm close to making the jump as I got a pair in a raffle I won at MKF. I have at least 3 pumps (floor, two minis) as well as my compressor and electric mini I just purchased to convert. Plus, the cores and caps (because looks, duh).

Do it. You won't regret it. I usually bemoan new standards for bikes but they actually made a better product. I really hope they catch on and replace presta.
