Trek just started pulling inventory out of shops and laying off staff weeks before the busiest time of year, which isn’t a good sign.

They can't get their bikes into the country from rumors I am hearing.

after losing a family member to a car while riding on the road last year, I'm done with it for good. In light of that, I think an e-bike to facilitate more frequent trail riding is a valid option. just like to find one with one of those swanky avinox units...

Not a good look for the e-bike market when the big boys are not just struggling, but may go away...

Looks like another bike company to fall to the idea that the gravy train would never end. When they send the letter to their employees stating "the company said that it “did not anticipate the sudden drop in consumer demand from Covid-era peaks”, you continue to see the rot that has invaded the industry.

Well... looks like Pivot has decided to join the arms race...

1300w boost power? Damn...

I wish Pivot would get away from the 157mm rear hub width. As cool as this bike looks, that's a deal-killer for me.

And this is just one of a whole slew of new Avinox "version 2" e-bikes that were dropped today.

As a wheel builder the wider hub flanges makes more sense.

Real question.. how many times have you swapped wheels on your current ebike?? I don’t see this being a real issue. I’ve sat with Chris Cocalis on this and it makes tons of sense.

The lack of range extender option and drive train eating numbers makes the LT still my choice. I’m sure we will sell a bunch but this drive unit screams range anxiety and new chains & cassettes. I’ve spoken with sram and Shimano about these power numbers. Neither brand built their drive trains to deal with these numbers.

I haven't had to change wheels, but I want the option since when I travel for biking trips I usually have one of my other bikes with me - and I already have a butt-load of spare boost wheelsets.

The engineer in me totally understands the "why", but the practical side will occasionally veto the engineer's case. If something happens and I am forced to replace the entire fleet, I would consider going with SuperBoost, but until then a bike that uses it is off the list for consideration.

Pivot is the last hold out on this as far as I know. Even Salsa dropped super boost and they were all-in too. I didn't mind my super boost bike because I never swapped wheels and, it was better than my Cannondale AI dished Scalpel 🤣 You just have to assume any bike you buy now has 100% of the parts proprietary to that bike and isn't interchangeable even amongst other models in that brand.

Also, they built transmission specifically for e-bike use which is why it's so heavy and clunky.

I'm in the same boat. The engineer in me if fighting with the more practical side of me. Sometimes I ask myself is the better option a necessary option for me? With that said, I still have a Pivot with superboost so figure that out.
